Prenatal Yoga: Bring Prayer into your life & change your childs karma

From the beginning of life to its end, it is only a mother who can vibrate for her child and change his destiny. It is only the other whose vibrations and prayers can affect like an arc beam, and the child’s written destiny only she can wipe out and rewrite.

- Yogi Bhajan

Transforming your own consciousness through prayer, mantra, pranayam and meditation can cleanse the karma of the child you are carrying. Your child’s soul is pure and radiant, and through polishing and shining your own subtle body, you can help your child’s radiance to shine more brightly. Mediation and prayer are the tools to help you. Try this very simple and beautiful meditation:

  1. Sit comfortably in Easy Pose with your legs crossed. (Sit on a firm cushion or folded blanket if you like.)
  2. Lengthen the spine, close your eyes, and gently roll them up to focus between the eyebrows. This is the Third Eye, the centre of intuition. The Third Eye is directly connected to the Third Chakra (the energy centre located at your navel centre), where your baby is growing. Focussing at the Third Eye enhances the psychic connection between you and your baby.
  3. Relax your hands onto your knees, palms up, thumbs and forefingers forming a circle (Gyan Mudra which promotes wisdom).
  4. Breathe slowly and deeply through the nose. Silently vibrate the mantra “Sat Nam”, inhaling “Sat” and exhaling “Nam”. This mantra means “Truth is my Identity”, and is a beautiful way to call forth your highest self, the purest, perfect “You”. The mantra stimulates specific nerve centres in your body to enhance well-being.
  5. Do this for 11 minutes each day to ground, center and relax yourself.

When you feel relaxed and at peace, send out prayers for your child. Pray for your child, your self and your family. No prayers are as powerful as those of a mother for her child. You have the power to advocate for your child right now. It’s a good habit to develop, and it will serve you well through all the challenges and joys of parenting.

Here is one of my favourite prayers that I say each day for my children:

May you walk with grace and may the light of the Universe shine upon your path.

Prenatal Yoga - Blessing the Mother To Be: 120th Day Celebration

In the yogic tradition, the mother-to-be is honoured 120 days after conception.

At conception, a subtle connection between the embryo and the soul to be incarnated begins. On the 120th day, the soul commits to this incarnation, and the navel centre of the woman actively engages with the soul. From this point on, until the umbilical cord is cut, everything the expectant mother experiences is transmitted to the child. Her state of mind, her awareness, her relationship with herself and the world, her prayers and meditations, all play a part in shaping the child’s subconscious. Read More »

Prenatal Yoga - Writing a birth plan

Giving birth is a very magical, feminine and sometimes challenging time.  As conscious parents we try to do what is best for the child in the conscious lifestyle we are attempting to create around us.  To help the process, you may consider writing a birth plan.

The process of writing a birth plan can assist you and your partner in sorting out your basic values and envisioning the type of birth you both hope for. Read More »
